Intelligent Electronic Device (IED)
IEDs are microprocessor-based devices used for protection, control, and monitoring functions in substations. They perform tasks such as fault detection, isolation, and system restoration. IEDs can communicate with RTUs and other devices using protocols such as IEC 61850.
